FACTOR 10
Inc. is a sustainability
change management, governance, and leadership
development firm dedicated to revolutionizing
the design of organizations worldwide. Bob Doppelt,
author of Leading
Change Toward Sustainability: a Change Management
Guide for Business, Government, and Civil Society,
founded FACTOR 10 Inc. to design
organizations suited for the complex environmental
and socio-economic challenges of the 21st century
through the introduction of what he calls the
“Wheel of Change Toward Sustainability,”
“Sustainable Governance Protocols,”
and “Next Generation Leadership”
principles.
Why FACTOR
10 Inc?
The last century
witnessed huge increases in labor productivity.
As competition in the marketplace, demands by
consumers and communities for improved socioeconomic
and environmental performance, and ecological
pressures such as climate change increase, the
future is more likely to be characterized by substantial
increases in environmental productivity. This
means increased economic competitiveness and social
welfare achieved through dramatic reductions and
changes in the way non-renewable energy and raw
materials are used and in the quantity of pollution,
habitat impacts, and waste generated. Many believe
that socioeconomic and ecological pressures will
require increases in environmental productivity
by a factor of ten in the future.
While increased labor productivity
was achieved largely through technological advances,
factor ten increases in environmental productivity
will be generated primarily through improved leadership
and governance. It is for this reason that Bob
Doppelt chose FACTOR 10 Inc.
as the name of his firm.
