FACTOR 10 Inc. was founded by Bob Doppelt. In addition to his work with the firm, Mr. Doppelt is director of The Resource Innovation Group, a non-profit institute affiliated with the Institute for a Sustainable Environment and a Courtesy Professor in the Department of Planning, Public Policy, and Management at the University of Oregon.

Doppelt has over 25 years experience in business, sustainable development, environmental management, and watershed restoration. He and his wife owned and operated a business for ten years. He helped the State of Oregon and State of Washington adopt sustainable development policies and programs. He also helped numerous local governments in Oregon craft sustainability initiatives. Doppelt has also worked with numerous private businesses and business associations developing sustainability programs.

Doppelt served on the Western Division of The President’s Council on Sustainable Development. He also served on the U.S. EPA National Council for Environmental Policy and Technology. He has a Professional Sequence Award in ISO 14000 from U.C. Santa Cruz, and is a member of the U.S. Technical Assistance Group to the International Standardization Organization 14000 Environmental Standards. He is also a graduate of the International Program on the Management of Sustainability, Ziest, The Netherlands, and a founding member of the International Green Planners Association, The Netherlands.

Mr. Doppelt is a frequent speaker at conferences and workshops. He is the author of Leading Change Toward Sustainability: a Change Management Guide for Business, Government, and Civil Society (Greenleaf Publishing, UK, 2003), which was deemed "one of the nine most important books in sustainability" just six months after its release by a Globescan survey of international sustainability experts. mr. Doppelt is also lead author of Entering the Watershed (Island Press, 1993), a leading publication on aquatic ecosystem management and restoration called by one organization, "the Sand County almanac for rivers." He has authored numerous other articles and publications.
